There are different methods of testing whether your vehicle’s battery is working well.

First, you can use a voltmeter. You turn your car off, uncover the positive terminal and make sure you clean it. You then connect the positive of the voltmeter to the positive of the battery and the negative to the negative.

A good battery should give a voltage that ranges between 12.4 to 12.7 volts. Secondly, you can use a Power Probe by attaching the probes positive to the battery’s positive and the negative to the negative terminal. You then place the probe’s tip on the positive terminal and check the Probes reading. It should also ranger between 12.4 to 12.7 volts. Finally, you ignite the car until the starter engages and then proceed to check the voltage drop on the Power Probe that is connected to the battery. It should not surpass 9.6 volts.
