Debunking Motor Oil Myths

There are many motor oil myths that you may be convinced are facts. However, it is important to make sure that you know what is true about motor oil and what is a myth. The following are just a couple of the myths you may have heard about in the past.

You may have heard that it is necessary to change your motor oil before a long road trip. Whether you should or shouldn't depends on the circumstances. If you are not due to change your oil during the trip, waiting until you are back from the trip is perfectly fine. However, if you are due to have it changed during the trip, you should get it changed beforehand.

You may have also heard that if you use synthetic oil once, you always have to use it. This is simply false. Switching back between synthetic and conventional oils will not cause any damage to your engine.
