Valley Imports Mitsubishi wants Fargo residents to know that there are millions of drivers who get stuck at one time or another on ice or snow. Many of these drivers are prepared for this, and they have either sand, salt, or kitty litter in their trunks that they can spread underneath their tires in order to increase the amount of traction that their tires will get which will enable them to get unstuck. Just remember, salt melts snow and ice and also changes the pH of the surrounding soil which could damage or even kill plants. It is also more expensive than sand.
Sand is cheap to buy, but it does not melt the snow; however, it also does not absorb water very well so it can be used effectively for traction. Kitty litter has been used by a growing number of people because of its price. Kitty litter can get you out in a pinch, but remember that it clumps and is likely to refreeze.
