Are your brakes in bad shape? How can you tell? First off, if your brakes make any sound when you try to stop, that is not a sign of good functioning brakes and should get checked out. Also, if the brake pedal feels "spongy" or if you can depress the pedal all the way to the floor of your ride, that isn’t good. Your brakes need a certain amount of care. They should get inspected generally every 12,000 miles or so and at least once a year. Your vehicle's manufacturer also has guidelines about what should be a certain amount of miles between brake fluid exchanges should be. You can usually find that information in your owner's manual, or if you're ever unsure on the condition of your brakes, it doesn't hurt to take your vehicle into our service center to get things checked out. But you don’t want to wait until you get "symptoms." Come see us at Valley Imports Mitsubishi in Fargo, ND, and get your brakes checked out sooner than later to avoid any unnecessary problems.
